Chef Marissa Terry grew up on Chicago's Southside and built HerBachi to reflect the full depth of her community — bold, layered, and unapologetically her own.
Four Cuisines, One Kitchen
The menu draws from Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Thai culinary traditions — not as a greatest-hits playlist, but as a genuine expression of Chef Terry's training and palate. Her proprietary sauces are the throughline: aromatic, complex, and built to be eaten, not described.
Home on 79th Street
HerBachi sits at 79th and Rhodes in Chatham — a deliberate choice, not a default one. Chef Terry opened here because the Southside has always been home, and the neighborhood showed up on day one and hasn't stopped.

Beyond the restaurant, Chef Terry leads the Terry Community Tree nonprofit — empowering Southside youth and families through culinary arts and economic opportunity.
